The Swansea Civic Society is affiliated to The Civic Trust for Wales, Ymddiriedolaeth Ddinesig Cymru, and adheres to its general guidelines and principles.  The society is recognised by the City and County of Swansea for the purpose of development consultation.  Swansea Civic Society plays a very active role in engaging with current proposals and developments for the City and Bay.

We aim to highlight current problems and challenges of the built and natural environment facing our city.  At our local level we are committed to working towards promoting a quality, attractive, safe and sustainable built environment.  We also wish to encourage local pride in our city, from its industrial origins to the modern city it now is.  We therefore keep a careful scrutiny over planning applications and other proposals for significant change.

The Society aims to be constructive in its own proposals and in its responses to any planning or strategy documents that are produced for consultation.  We aim to keep our members updated on current proposals and to share our views on ongoing issues.

On the occasions where we believe an issue should be brought more clearly into the public domain we will take necessary steps to achieve that end.

Swansea Civic Society is still playing a very active role in engaging with current proposals and developments for the City and Bay.
